What To Do When Your “Passion” Niche is Overcrowded

crowdIts common advice that when deciding on a blog topic, or “niche”, that you need to have a serious interest or passion in the topic you choose.

You’re going to be thinking, writing, and/or talking about this subject every day.

If you’ve ever read this advice on a site somewhere, at some point it’s usually followed by advice on not wasting your time trying to break into an overcrowded niche.

Two months ago I decided to start this blog about making money online. The internet is waist deep with blogs of this same subject and I was well aware of that when I went ahead with MikeWords. The truth is I really didn’t care how many others were already established in this field. The only thing that mattered to me was that I wanted to write about making money online.

I’ve enjoyed reading and writing about this “niche” for a long time and I feel like I have plenty of advice to offer and a deep desire for being a part of its unlimited potential.

I’m not concerned with making money in the next few months because that kind of concern will only become a distraction for me.

My goal is to create content on a consistent basis and strive to make each post better than the next. I may not achieve that every day, but if I continue to do that for a year, I know I’ll be in an outstanding position; regardless of what my stats tell me throughout the year.

Don’t let anyone ever tell you that the niche your passionate about is too hard to break into, or overcrowded.

If you find something that you have a real passion for, that passion should be the most important factor in your decision. That passion will lead the way and break down doors for you.

I’m sure you can find some un-mined niche like, “Moms who enjoy the smell of their own farts”(wait, that’s probably HUGE), and capture some quick readers, but you have to ask yourself; is this something you want to dedicate a large chunk of your life too? Is this the field you want to become an expert on?

Odds are it won’t be, but the good news is that there is something you’re really passionate about, or at least something you can get passionate about.

My advice is to not get caught up in researching how crowded your niche is. Find the top producers in your niche and instead of being intimidated by them, put a target on their foreheads. Now I’m not telling you to go out and make enemies or wish them failure. I’d recommend just the opposite.

Reach out to your competitors. Offer your help, request their advice and build a relationship. This will go a long way in helping you succeed.

But at the end of the day, take notice of where they are and aim higher.

When you can identify your passion(s), put your head down and drive it home.

Trust your instincts and don’t let a crowd get in your way.

I always wanted to write in my site something like that. Can I take part of your post to my blog?
Of course, I will add backlink?
